Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

 What is WEEE?

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is a part of UK law, which states that distributors and retailers must provide a system which allows all customers the opportunity to recycle their old items, free of charge, when purchasing a new piece of electrical equipment.

Under the WEEE regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with a crossed out wheelie bin symbol, as shown below:

Why is it in place?

Unwanted Electrical equipment is the UK's fastest growing type of waste, increasing by 5% each year. Much of this waste ends up in landfill, where hazardous substances can leak out, causing soil and water contamination. This can lead to the harming of the wildlife and our health.

What we can do

As a retailer of LED bulbs, we can offer the chance to recycle your old bulbs when a new bulb is purchased from us. This means we can prevent the bulbs from going to landfill by ensuring they are disposed of properly.
